Sabina Puértolas and Xavier Sabata in Handel’s Rodelinda for Opéra national de Lyon

Sabina Puértolas returned in December to Opéra national de Lyon with the title role in Rodelinda in Claus Guth’s production under Stefano Montanari. Her engagements this season include Fiorilla in Rossini’s Il Turco in Italia at Oviedo Opera, Ilia in Mozart’s Idomeneo in a new production by Robert Carsen under Ivor Bolton for Teatro Real in Madrid, her role debut as Adina in L’elisir d’amore by Donizetti at Baluarte Pamplona, and the title role in Doña Francisquita in a new production at Teatro de la Zarzuela.

Xabier Sabata joined the Rodelinda cast as Bertarido making his house debut at Opéra national de Lyon. Current season engagements include his return to Staatsoper Berlin performing Ottone in Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea with Diego Fasolis, Endimione in Cavalli’s La Calisto directed by David Alden under Ivor Bolton at Teatro Real, and the world premiere of L’enigma di Lea by composer Benet Casablancas with Josep Pons at Liceu Barcelona.

Sabina and Xavier will also sing Rodelinda at Teatro Municipal de Santiago de Chile.
