Germán Olvera made Glyndebourne Festival debut this summer singing the Count in Le nozze di Figaro

Mexican baritone Germán Olvera caused a stir with his debut at the Glyndebourne Festival this summer where he sang the Count in Le nozze di Figaro. Neil Fisher, writing in The Times, remarked that ‘Germán Olvera has the dance moves of the alpha male and vocal prowess to match it. Sit back and watch the fireworks.’


Germán was until recently a member of the Ensemble at Staatsoper Hannover where his roles included Count Le nozze di Figaro, Don Giovanni title role, Escamillo Carmen, Belcore L’elisir d’amore and Marcello La bohème.


Highlights of the 2022-23 Season include returning to the Teatro Real, Madrid to sing Ping Turandot, a role he will also sing in his debut at Dutch National Opera in a new Barrie Kosky production.  He returns to Dutch National Opera to sing Boxer in the world première of Animal Farm by Alexander Raskatov and this season also sees him perform and record Belfiore in Verdi’s Un giorno di regno at the Chopin Festival in Warsaw with Europa Galante and Fabio Biondi.
