13 June 2019

Christian Curnyn makes his début with Opéra national du Rhin this month conducting a new production of Don Giovanni staged by Marie-Eve Signeyrole. Next season he returns to Opera North (Giulio Cesare), Komische Oper Berlin (Jephtha) and Theatre Basel (Le nozze di Figaro), and further ahead plans include productions at the Royal Opera Covent Garden and Garsington Opera.

Christian has also enjoyed a busy orchestral season, making débuts with Ensemble Resonanz at Beethovenfest Bonn, Philharmonie Essen, and a Messiah tour with Tasmania, West Australia, and Adelaide Symphony Orchestras. Closer to home he returned to conduct the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and the English Concert, alongside projects with his Early Opera Company including Solomon in concert on the Royal Opera Covent Garden main stage, their Amsterdam Concertgebouw début resulting in a Dutch Schaunard Award nomination, as well as the release of their Acis and Galetea recording, which won the BBC Music Magazine Opera Award.
