Spanish tenor Antonio Gandía studied singing at  the ‘Joaquín Rodrigo’ Conservatory in Valencia and at the Escuela Superior de Música ‘Reina Sofía’ in Madrid with Alfredo Kraus. He also participated in masterclasses with Renata Scotto, Ileana Cotrubas and Elena Obraztsova

He has won awards in the Viñas Contest in Barcelona (First Prize) and Plácido Domingo’s Operalia (Zarzuela prize), among others.

Antonio made his debut in 2000 as Ein Sänger Der Rosenkavalier at Teatro Real, where he appeared later as Beppe Pagliacci and Nemorino L’elisir d’amore. Since then his engagements have included Orombello in Bellini Beatrice di Tenda and Edgardo Lucia di Lammermoor, both at Teatro alla Scala; Tonio La Fille du Régiment at Liceu Barcelona; Ernesto Don Pasquale at the Metropolitan Opera, Washington National Opera and Teatro Massimo di Palermo; Fenton Falstaff and Alfredo La Traviata at La Monnaie; Rinuccio Gianni Schicchi in Washington; L’elisir d’amore at the Teatro San Carlo di Napoli; Elvino La Sonnambula and Alfredo La Traviata at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna,

His Zarzuela performances have included Javier Luisa Fernanda for Los Angeles Opera and Washington National Opera, as well as Doña Francisquita and Juan José at the Teatro de la Zarzuela.

Antonio’s past engagements also include Edgardo Lucia di Lammermoor at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Opéra Royal de Wallonie-Liége and the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino; Duca Rigoletto at the Arena di Verona, Teatro Lirico di Cagliari and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria; Pinkerton Madama Butterfly at the Teatro Sao Carlos in Lisbon; Alfredo La Traviata in Cagliari and for the Associazione Lirica Concertistica Italiana (ASLICO) in Modena, Reggio Emilia, Pavia, Brescia, Como and Cremona; and Verdi Requiem with the Orchestre de l’Opéra de Toulon and RTVE Symphony Orchestra.

Current repertoire also includes title role Werther, Nicias Thäis and Chevalier des Grieux Manon; Riccardo Un Ballo in Maschera, Macduff Macbeth, Ismaele Nabucco, title role Don Carlo and Manrico Il Trovatore; Cavaradossi Tosca and Rodolfo La Bohème; title role Roberto Devereux and Gennaro Lucrezia Borgia; title role Les Contes d’Hoffmann; Don José Carmen; Maurizio Adriana Lecouvreur; and Pollione  Norma.
